Mission Statement: To help people with Multiple Sclerosis be proactive with their disease.

My name is Roger Cawiezell and I live in Raleigh, N.C., since 1975. I grew up in Davenport, Iowa.

I am a 63 year old male diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting MS in Dec. of 2001. At age 55 I was pretty healthily, except for a few operations, I was still playing golf 3 to 4 times each week and gin just about everyday. Life was good and I thought I was bullet proof. Then I found out I had my first symptom, optic neuritis. About two weeks later after all the test and the MRI it was official, I had MS. Of course I new nothing about the disease and was really confused, terrified and in all 5 stages of grief at the same time. Really I was not in the Acceptance stage but certainly the denial, anger, guilt, blame were all present. My wife, Sarita was there for me and thank God she is the wonderful, beautiful person that I fell in love with 15 years ago. She just said well Roger WE will get through this because God wants’ you to be health and prosperous.

Over the 8 plus years my symptoms’ have changed and pain became chronic through out all of my body. The common things like tingling, numbness, fatigue balance, weakness, gait, all were part of the last 5 years. Even though the symptoms became more severe, I refused to give in to the aide of a cane, walker or a scooter. The neurologist that t was seeing had changed me from Rebif to Tysabri and I was on it for 12months only to discover from a new MRI that I had 3 new lesions on my spine at the C2, C5, and C6. Of Tysabri and on to Costa Rica was the plan.

More later, In Good Health,

ROGER
